I combine my images with songs to give the scene a whole new story. They're called photosounds. Take a listen. They are best viewed on a laptop or desktop. I'm a DIY small business owner, so if anyone has tips for making this a smoother experience, please contact me!
To fully experience photosounds, you can listen to the entire song when logged into Spotify and use the arrow key to advance the photo when the next song starts, or skip to the next song and image whenever you're ready. (No Spotify? That's ok, you'll hear a short sample of each song.)
Keeping it local: here's a selection of photos from my neighborhood and sounds from an iconic San Francisco band, Journey.
Photographed at Sutro Baths in San Francisco on February 23, 2020.
From Expedition Quarantine, shot at my local shopping centers in between April 1 and May 6, 2020. On May 30, 2020, most of these stores were destroyed by looters (see separate video, Looting Emeryville, below).
I recommend pressing play on the playlist first, then launching the video slideshow by pressing the play arrow. If you are logged into Spotify you'll hear the entire song; if you don't have Spotify you'll hear a short sample which will play twice.
Many of the businesses I photographed in early May for the Better Days project were the targets of looters just 3 weeks later.
